This is THE premier business jet
manufactured by
Bombardier Aerospace. It has the highest thrust-to-weight
ratio in the biz-jet category (yes, higher than the
G-V and
Citation X).
Along with it's other Learjet cousins, it defines 'Lear Country'
by having unbelieveable climb rates.
I had a roommate who spent a semester as an intern
for
FlightSafety
International in Tucson. During that time, he was able to
take the 60 ground school and log over 40 hours in the two level-D Lear
60 sims at the facility. That's just about everything needed to
fly the aircraft
but the type rating itself. Anyway I visited him
on a few occasions and was able to log 7.1 hours myself (he lived
with the chief Lear 60 flight instructor, thus free instruction), and a
few unloged hours of aerobatics. As a result, I HAD to build one for
X-Plane. This is the final product of over a year
of on-and-off work on the model.
To land this aircraft successfully, you will need to read
the included text file that describes both simplified flight procedures
(as best as I can remember them
from the instruction) and actual checklists from Bombardier.
Reduced performance data is also included from the checklists for
very accurate operation.
