A view over Kanazawa and a few images from the
fish market. Below is a photo from a sushi bar in
the fish market. It's of the kind where there's a
moving band of sushi dishes across the top of the
counter, and you pick those you want. When you leave
the colours and patterns of the dishes tell what
the price of what you've eaten was. Too bad we
don't have all the right kinds of fish for sushi
at home.
In Kanazawa we in the group stayed with different families around the area, something I and the others appreciated very much! It's not always you can that intimate contact with a country as a tourist.
Sort of a introduction to the famous tea ceremony.
I expected I'd find the green powder tea too bitter,
but it was rather nice, like the rest of the peaceful
ceremony.
Bonsai is one of my old interests, although I have some
problems practicing it nowadays. Luckily there's a bonsai
master working in Kanazawa itself, so we got to visit the
workshop and the yard outside. A truly great experience.
As you can see, it drizzled a little one day in Kanazawa,
but mostly the weather was very good during our stay
in Japan.
This is a very famous park built on a hill close to the
centre of the city. It's the oldest Japanese style garden
which was opened for the public. Very beautiful.
It's still got its impressive centuries old water system, which is fed from a river some distance away, through an underground system partly under pressure.
In the park one can observe that there's a difference between which jobs are performed by males and females, probably because it's always been that way.
