Sewills Carmania

Why I bought it

I wanted a watch that was a bit different from most of my few others, of good quality so it'd be used relatively often.

Description and what I think about it

Features

It's a good looking, automatic watch with small seconds at 6 o'clock, no date. Mine has a white dial.

The base movement, ETA 2895, has a date feature, but the items for that have been deleted.

Dial, hands and crystal

Very well done. There's a bit of text on the dial, but it's still not cluttered. The hands are thin, as they should be on this style of watch, with round luminous inserts. There's no luminous material on the dial.

Wearing comfort and usability

The watch is light and comfortable, the crown doesn't protrude much at all. It's more legible in darker conditions that I'd thought it'd be, but in spite of the Luminova dots on the hands it's not very easy to read in total darkness, as you've got to keep track of how the dial is oriented. Can be done.

I do have the bracelet, but I've never used it all. It's very well done, it's just that I don't fancy that style much.

I've gotten good value for my money, as I've used it a bit more than I figured I would.

Accuracy

It's chronometer certificated and in practice it's been much more accurate than required for that with about 1s/day, stable, over weeks.

Design, fit and finish

Outstanding. And it's one of the few watches I've got where the display back feels really meaningful.

What it comes delivered with

Basically, apart from the bracelet with a butterfly clasp I've mentioned, it comes in a very handsome wooden box with polishing cloth and a chronometer certificate. What more do you need?
