SpeedbirdThis is one of the very few watches I have which I didn't get for a specific purpose (I don't see myself as a collector). Unless you count "Want to wear it sometimes" as a purpose, which I guess I do.
I simply wanted it and as it wasn't expensive and it's good enough to actually put to daily use it didn't require lots of thinking to decide (and I got one of the first ones too).
On one hand, it's a rather plain watch, with no extra features or printing on the dial, on the other it's actually very well thought out and designed, with perfect proportions and practical features like 10 bar water resistance and screw down crown.
Very well executed. There's luminous compound on the hour and minute hands and at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. The dial says T SWISS T, so there should be some tritium there, but it behaves like the major part of the quite sufficient glow comes from SuperLuminova.
The hands are painted black.
The Speedbird isn't a small watch, and since the spring bars (on the first 50 ones, including mine) are semi-fixed, straps has to go under the case and it's not a thin watch, means it can ride high on the wrist. Not so much I mind, though.
Excellent and much better than to be expected from the price.
Comes in a nice wooden box, two different nylon straps and sort of a "dog tag". Neat touch.
More information at Timefactors and a review of it.
