20 have been ordered in June 2001, deliveries will be from autumn 2002 (two on loan for familarization, first series deliveries in 2003) until 2007.
They will be used for training, light transport and have some tactical capability.
Eight will be fitted for a naval environment and be operated, but not full time, from the Visby corvettes. One difference is that their tails are a bit abbreviated in order to fit into the ships' hangars.
They'll be fitted with a GPS-based formation keeping avionics suite, will have a relatively modest radar. Optionally they'll be fitted with the best possible FLIR, a winch and a machine gun.
In service they will replace Agusta Bell 204B, Augsta-Bell 206A, Schweizer 300 and later on MBB Bo 105.
18 ordered in Sept 2001 with a first delivery in 2005, IOC in 2007 and capability to take part in international missions from 2010. Expected service life is 30 years.
Eight of them will be fitted with a APS-143B radar, five of those tasked with ASW/ASuW and fitted with dipping sonars, an optronic sensor and two tactical operator consoles which can be removed when used in the transport role. The other 13 will be used for transport and SAR duties.
They will all get the same advanced C3I system as JAS 39 Gripen (without it we could have afforded 20).
In service they will replace the HKP 3 AB204, HKP 4 Vertol 107 and HKP 11 AB-412.
Number in service: 5, entered service in 1994. During peace time, they're used mainly as civilian ambulances, but also for training and some transport tasks. (An option for twelve more was taken out.)
In 2003 - 2005 they will be taken out of service.

All HKP 4s now upgraded virtually identical standard as Hkp 4B. Some were originally with the air force in the SAR role.

Number in service: 11 (one as an attrition replacement), first entered service in 1970. Duties are training and light ASW.
Both HKP 6A and 6B be retired starting in 2002 and last in 2004 Aug 31.
Number in service: 5, first entered service in 1989. Used for IFR training for helicopter pilots. (ex navy.)
Number in service: 1, entered service in 1986 Used for ASW/Maritime surveillance. The Coast Guard also operates three CASA 212s.
