Fitting an alternate, new clip to a Spyderco Starmate

I started to carry mine in a belt sheath, as the handle feels a bit more comfortable without the clip, and as the clip made the knife ride too high to put in a knife pocket and close the flap I thought I could do without a clip.

But a clip is practical, so I fitted a new clip, higher up, which lets it ride lower in a pocket.

I won't tell you exactly how I did it, apart from telling you I took a clip from a Mariner and reused one of the original holes (so I can fit the original clip again, should I want to), because I'm not certain I did it the best way. If you're going to void the warranty on your knives, perhaps there's a better way of doing it.

It may look like the clip isn't mounted straight, but that's because it's a bit off centre, so it has to be if the clip is to remain vertical in the carry position, which I think it ought to.

Another solution I came up with earlier was a bent replacement clip. There are other advantages and disadvantages with such a solution.
